Kara University is a Togolese Public or Government University created and operating under the decree No 1999-011/PR
dating on 21st January1999.

Long time ago, Kara University (KU) has undergone profound changes both in pedagogical practice and in terms of  strengthening its infrastructure.
All these efforts are aimed at setting up quality assurance that is increasingly geared to digital technology.
It is in this context that the presidency of Kara University has undertaken various initiatives aimed at the digitization of services. This led to the organization of the open and distance learning program (ODL).

The ODL at KU is translated into a global strategy of digital transformation of the University which is declined in the adoption of the procedure of registration of the students online, the
management of the notes of the various evaluations, the security diplomas and institutional communication within the University through digital platforms.

The ODL at KU as well as the teaching programs (BMD) are including the international teaching strategies and this allow the students or communities at worldwide level to benefit from KU teaching services. ODL system allow Credit Transfer, APEL, Study abroad program, Exchange student program, Work and study program, apprenticeship, international internship,…

The ODL resources are designed for distance learning and it knows how to best fit study around busy lives.

Kara University organizes BMD System according to Bologna Process (Bachelor, Master and Doctorate)

The run programs and their majors include:

The Bachelor is run in 3 academic year’s equivalent to 6 semesters or 180 credits

The Master’s program is run in 2 years equivalent of 2 semesters or 120 credits

The Doctoral Program is run in 3 years equivalent of 6 semesters or 180 credits.

To apply the candidate follow the following methods:

Method 1: Online registration (We Highly encourage to use this method for fast response )

  1. Create an account within ODL by registering (registration Link)
  2. Confirm his/her email (Login to the email provided during registration and confirm the registration email sent by ODL-Kara University via univkara.net )
  3. Login to account (Login link)
  4.  Fill and submit the new student application form(Application form link . Only accessible when logged-in )
  5. Wait for the response from our admission office.

Method 2: Classic registration (for people with slow internet or when method 1 is not working)

The application form is downloaded from the download links section, filled and sent to odl@univ-kara.tg for evaluation.

N.B: Make sure to attach all required supporting document when sending the email. 

  • To be admitted in Bachelor, the student must have two principle passes.
  • To get admitted in Last year, the student of Bachelor, the student must be Advanced Diploma or Diploma Holder. 
  • To get enrolled in Master’s Program the candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree. 
  • To get enrolled in PhD, the student must be Master’s holder. 

The total cost you pay for your qualification is dependent on the modules you choose to study. It is also depending on different services you pay for. Some of the services are Credit Transfer programs or APEL.

The payment is done online. The student or candidate must have a Bank card (debit or credit card).

Students sends the emails to odl@univ-kara.tg clarifying the following details:
Names and surname, his/her email, his/her phone number, city and country, the payment reasons and how much in USD currency he/she would like to pay.
As a feedback from odl@univ-kara.tg the student or candidate will get the link on which he/she will click and fill the visa card’s information. It will be debited and the student will get the
notification as payment confirmation though the student email. You can also pay using bank transfer.

Once the candidate is registered, he/she will be, via his email, given access to the KU/ODL Moodle platform.
The candidate will see an overview of the course and the modules to study. He will follow courses, evaluation on the same platform. Lecturers submit materials and the practices, activities to be done by the students in the same platform. The collaborative work in the form of chats, interaction forums; exposures in the form of video conference sessions are done via the platform.

The candidates for BMD will be required to respect KU/ODL research format for thesis and dissertations.
To get registered for thesis, the Candidate will be submitting with the application form his Master’s dissertation and his PhD topic or research proposal. See enclosed the format of research

APEL (accreditation of prior experiential learning) is learning which has taken place from a range of experiences and is often unstructured, personal and unconsciously gained. Skills, knowledge and abilities that come with this type of learning however can be equal to those gained by students following traditional courses through formal educational institutions.
If you feel you have covered the content of a module/ modules via your work/ life experience, APEL is a way to provide the evidence to show this and to gain credit for it.
As BMD system the credits transfer are recognized.

The Candidate will be submitting his CV and related certificates or documents. The coordination team of ODL will valuing the candidate’s experiences into the credits. The Candidate will be required to sit for the viva voice exam. In addition he will be required to compulsorily submit and defend his dissertation before getting any degree from KU

Depending on the course that the candidate is doing, the assessment can be a written assignments, oral and practical assessments, projects, exams, dissertations and portfolios. The assessment is organized to be done on ODL platform. It is a self-supporting platform for monitoring and correcting the exams carried out on-line.

The results of the assessment are also accessible via the platform.

With each module you successful completed, you earned a set number of credits.

To maximize your credit transfer potential, you either need to apply for credit transfer towards a qualification that is of a similar subject nature to your previous study. KU ODL is considering your previous study completed for an award of credit transfer into KU/ODL qualifications.

VIRTUAL REALITY LAB

Virtual reality (VR) refers to a computer-generated simulation in which a person can interact within an artificial three-dimensional environment using electronic devices, such as special goggles with a screen or gloves fitted with sensors. The Virtual Reality (VR) Lab is a unique facility in which you can walk through virtual reality representations of products that are yet to be realised using virtual reality technologies. The lab enables students and staff to visualise designs, develop immersive VR environments, and to test new VR and AR technologies.

DRONES

The Drone at KU/ODL is to contribute to different scientific research projects. Drones(often called unmanned aerial vehicles or UAVs) provide us with a novel way to capture data; they help us to gain a perspective of the Earth that is simply not possible with instruments that are based on the ground. Specifically one of projects at KU, is that the drone will enable Faculty of Medicine to contribute to facilitate the movement of medical items and speed up deliveries, while also alleviating strain on congested roads and reducing emissions. With the Institute of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine the drone will contribute to: - Monitor growth and prospected yield - Identify problems without damaging healthy crops - Manage irrigation and minimize soil erosion - Monitor vegetation and identify weak spots - Accurately identify boundaries inventory
